Do I need to be creative or crafty?
Not even slightly. The sewing is done before you arrive, your part is the fun part: choosing strings, threading beads, picking your centrepiece. We guide every step.
What do I choose when I book, and what do I choose on the day?
At booking: your colour, top size, bottom size, coverage and padding, so your bikini can be handmade to you in time. On the day: everything else. The string bar is yours to mix and match, along with the beads, shells and centrepieces. The best decisions are saved for the table.
What sizes do you cater for?
Yours. Your bikini isn't a small, medium or large, it's made to the bra and bottom size you give us at booking. That's the SÁLTI way, and it's why the fit photographs so well at the end.
Can I book for my friends too?
Please do, that's the best way to come. When you book, tap "add your bestie" and build each friend's bikini into the same booking: her name, her colour, her size. One payment, seats side by side.
How long is a session?
Two hours at the table, enough time to make, chat and have a drink without ever feeling rushed. Arrive 15 minutes early to settle in.
Can I come alone?
Please do. The table seats twelve, conversation flows, and solo girls have a habit of leaving with new friends and matching beads.
Is it girls only?
Mostly, but couples are some of our favourite guests. Book two seats and make it a date, he can build his masterpiece for you, or just keep your glass full while you bead.
Can we book a private table?
Yes, from 10 guests, and it's our favourite thing. Your date, your occasion, our studio or your venue, anywhere in Gauteng. The price per seat is the same everywhere. Outside Gauteng, travel is quoted separately at cost on the enquiry and waived when the booking is big enough to carry it. The bride or birthday girl gets a free Signature upgrade. Where do the workshops happen?
Johannesburg and Pretoria to begin, in spaces as beautiful as what you'll make in them, with Cape Town and Durban on tour soon. Every date shows its venue upfront, and your confirmation email adds the exact address, parking and arrival time.
How do I pay?
Card or instant EFT at booking. Your seat (and your bikini) is only reserved once payment goes through, and your confirmation lands in your inbox straight away.
What if I can't make my date anymore?
Bookings close 14 days before the workshop, when our seamstress starts. Your size and colour lock then. To change anything about your booking, email tegan@saltimade.co.za. A name transfer is free up to 48 hours before the workshop, and the bikini stays as originally ordered. You can move your seats to another date with at least 14 days' notice. Because your bikini is custom-made, bookings are non-refundable, apart from a payment that clears after the 10-minute hold has run out and the seat has gone, or a session we cancel. If we cancel, you can move to any other date free, or take a full refund. Where a refund applies, it is processed within 5 working days of approval, and your bank may take a few days more to reflect it. Refunds go back to the original payment method through PayFast.
What if I don't arrive?
If you do not arrive, there is no refund and no move. The bikini is still yours. You can collect it, or have it couriered at your cost, within 30 days.
What if I'm running late?
The session runs to schedule and cannot be extended. Our team will help you catch up when you arrive. More than an hour late counts as a no-show.
How old do guests need to be?
Guests 16 and over are welcome. Under-18s must be booked by a parent or guardian. Alcohol is strictly 18 and over, and non-alcoholic options are always on the table.
Do you take photos?
We photograph and film every workshop for SÁLTI marketing and socials. A guest ticks a box at booking if they are happy to appear. Anyone who has not, or who tells the host on the day, is kept out of shot. Under-18s are booked by a parent or guardian.
What if something goes wrong on the day?
You attend at your own risk. SÁLTI MADE is not liable for personal injury, or for loss of or damage to your belongings, except where the law says otherwise.
When do I take my bikini home?
You take your bikini home on the day. Anything left behind can be collected, or couriered at your cost, within 30 days.
Can I gift a seat?
Yes, and it's one of our favourite gifts to wrap, perfect for a bride, a birthday girl or a girlfriend. Get in touch and we'll arrange her seat, she'll give us her sizes and colour herself, so her surprise still fits perfectly.
